Edmond, OK Paintless Dent Repair & Auto Hail Repair FAQ

Superior Dent Solutions answers your most frequently asked questions about Edmond, OK auto hail repair.

Edmond, OK and parts of Yukon, OK were terrorized by a massive hail storm in addition to 9 tornados. Residents literally reported being trapped in their homes and vehicles as they watched the jaw-dropping spectacles.

Although we can’t do anything about the damage to the homes, we can alleviate the stress caused by auto hail damage. Below we have answered some of the most frequently asked questions we are receiving about the auto hail repair process, paintless dent repair, insurance & hail claims, and more.

How is hail damage assessed on a vehicle?

The first step is to have your vehicle inspected by a qualified Edmond, OK paintless dent repair company for a time and cost estimate.

These assessments can take up to one hour and are provided free of charge. A Superior Dent Solutions estimator will schedule a time to come to your location, inspect your vehicle for hail damage, and discuss repair options.

At this time, you can schedule a day/time for us to pick up your vehicle for repairs.

How does hail damage a vehicle?

Because most hailstones are round in nature, they leave a dent in your vehicle that is similar to what would be caused by a golf ball.

For the most part, hail damage affects mostly the horizontal panels on a vehicle including the hood, roof, trunk, the tops of the front fenders, and rear quarter panels. The size and depth of the dents are determined by the size of the hailstone and windspeeds during the storm.

The Edmond, OK hail storm on April 19th reported wind gusts up to 70mph and we are seeing hail damage on the side of the vehicle that was facing the wind.

Hail damage located on the sides of your vehicle can easily be reversed with PDR.

How does paintless dent repair work?

Before paintless dent repair begins, most trim components must be removed to allow our technicians access to the backside of the metal. Additionally, the headliner on the interior must be removed or dropped down for the roof panel access. The hood panel and trunk deck lid are removed for easy dent access and removal. Front & back headlights are removed to provide access to the backsides of the fenders. Rear taillights are removed to provide access to the backside of the rear quarter panel. Access to the side doors is performed through the window opening, an area between the door glass and the door skin.

How is Edmond auto hail damage repaired?

Dent Pushing

Most hailstones are shaped like golf balls, so they make a round indention in the metal. The dent is removed by using a massaging process using a special set of tools designed to get behind the vehicle panel. This massaging process starts in the center of the dent and is used over the entire diameter of the dented area until the metal is returned to its original position on the panel.

Dent Pulling

Some areas of the vehicle do not allow access to the backside of the metal panel, and a different process is required to remove them. A pulling process, which uses plastic tabs shaped to fit hail dents and other dent-pulling tools gently pulls the metal back into position from the paint side.

Auto Hail Damage Hood

Can all hail-damaged vehicles from the Edmond hail storm be repaired with the paintless dent repair process?

So long as the paint is still intact, and the dent isn’t too complex in nature, it can be repaired with paintless dent repair. The best thing about PDR/auto hail repair is that we do not need to add body filler, repaint, or disturb your vehicle’s factory paint during the repair process. Because of this, PDR is also far less time-consuming than the traditional dent repair process.

Unlike other Edmond auto hail repair companies, we do offer paint repair services in case we discover any paint cracking, peeling, or scratching during the PDR process.
